Anini Reef Dying Quickly

August 29, 2012 by zero | 0 comments

We did a dive yesterday at Anini Reef and this infectious coral disease has spread all over the reef. One year ago there were 2 infections in our 100 meter transect. Four weeks ago there was 80 infections and now almost every coral is infected! This is over 500 beautiful rice corals! The disease is getting really ugly and is turning the corals black! The infectious patches on the corals are growing faster. Over two inches a week on many of them!! Visit hawaii-reef.com and watch the video and check out the latest updates.

Kauai North Shore Corals Damaged

March 4, 2012 by zero | 0 comments

Our corals are dying on the north shore of Kauai and we all need to work together to fix the problem if we want our grand children to see a coral reef and healthy marine ecosystem. For thousands of years Hawaiians took care of the sea but over the last 100 years we have not done a very good job at it. It is time for a change. Aloha, Terry Lilley, Marine Biologist, Hanalei HI
